Summer Slam St. George 2021

We’re super excited for our second trip to dance camp as Studio B Dance Company! I’ve compiled all the necessary information- please let me know if you have any questions.

We’d love to show up matching and looking like a team so please follow these “dress code” prompts for each day.
Day 1: White studio tanks any black bottoms
Day 2: Solid black top and any black bottoms
Day 3: Choose your own SHOW look!

Hotel: Comfort Suites St. George- University Area
175 N 1000 E, St. George, UT 84770

Wednesday
For those that are checking in Wednesday, let me know if you’re interested in meeting up. We could do some shopping, get dinner and then hit the pool if you’d like!

Thursday/ DAY ONE
There is complimentary breakfast provided by the hotel, and you can spend your morning however you’d like on Thursday. But, for those that are interested, I thought it would be fun to meet for brunch Thursday afternoon before camp check in. This is totally optional- but if you’d like, we can meet at 25 Main at 11:30 am on Thursday.

The camp is at Snow Canyon High School - 1385 N. 2400 W. St, George, UT 84770

*If you’d like to carpool to camp Thursday, please meet in the lobby at 1:45.  I can drive 5-6 dancers; we’ll need one or two more people to drive the rest of the dancers. If you’d like to volunteer, please let me know.

Check in for the camp is between 2:15-2:30 pm. Parents- if you’d like to stay and watch the classes you may purchase a spectator pass at the check in desk for $25 (it’s good for all three days). Otherwise, I will be with the girls all day.

I will need to hand in our waivers at check in. If you haven’t filled one out and returned it to me yet, please do so by Monday. I’ve attached the file if you need to print a new one.

After check in, we’ll start right into classes! Please come ready to dance. I’ve attached your camp schedules so you can know what to expect. There will be a short dinner break- all meals at this event are catered and dancers will be well fed! We’re scheduled to be done around 9:30 pm; we will plan on carpooling back to the hotel then.

Since this is a late night, please plan on getting as much rest as you can. I’m sure a quick trip to the pool would feel great on your muscles. Don’t forget to practice your routines each night! Day two is going to be super long and exhausting, especially after being sore from day one. (Icy Hot is your friend!) Try your best to rest night one as much as possible.

Friday/ DAY TWO

Camp starts bright and early with warm up at 8:30 am. Plan to meet for breakfast in the lobby at 7:30 so we’re fed and ready to be at camp nice and early. We can once again coordinate our carpool for to and from camp.

We’ll be done for the day at 5:00 pm and then head back to the hotel to change. This year, our team/family dinner will be at the Anasazi Steakhouse at 7:00 pm (1234 W Sunset Blvd, St. George, UT 84770). We have a private room reserved. For large groups they do a limited menu- I’ve attached a copy so that you can know what to expect.

After dinner, we’ll head back to the hotel for an evening of fun in the pool!

Saturday/DAY THREE

Show day! For your “show” outfit- wear any dancewear that you feel comfortable and confident in for your performance. If you’d like to participate in the “dance off” audition it’s a smart idea to wear something bright and noticeable.

We’ll start again at 8:30, meet for breakfast at 7:30 and we’ll make our way to our final day of camp.

Dancers will have five short classes to review their routines, lunch and then there will be a dance-off competition for the dancers who have earned blue ribbons throughout the event.

Family members may head to camp and find a seat for the show at 1:10 pm. The performance starts at 1:20- and is just a fun quick way to see what they all learned during their camp experience.

After the show, they’ll do awards and a camp photo for each studio. We’ll be done around 2:30 pm and you’re free to head home or play around St. George with your family.

It’s going to be a great experience and I can’t wait to see each dancer learn and grow SO MUCH!

DANCERS
I’ve listed some things that everyone should bring in their dance bag each day to be as prepared as possible.

Dance Bag Packing List:

  • Face mask (they’re not required this year, but bring one just in case)
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Water bottle
  • Dance shoes + socks including hip hop shoes (whichever you prefer are fine)
  • Sweats/joggers to put on for hip hop class if you wish
  • Deodorant
  • Small towel (for the sweat)
  • Meal bar or other quick snack between classes for an energy boost
  • Dance journal & pen
  • Camp Schedule
  • Hair ties

*In your suitcase, please bring a first aid kit including: Icy Hot or other sore muscle ointment, band aids, ace bandage, quick ice pack, heating pad (anything that will help you for when you’re sore).

*When playing around St. George please stay HYDRATED and sunscreened. It’s going to be super hot. Our pool is outdoors, so be sure to remember sunscreen.

*Please remember to wash your hands frequently and use your hand sanitizer when you’re not able to get to a sink. We want to keep everyone happy and healthy during our trip.

*We are being hosted by a large high school; please take care of their facility like you would our own. No drinks other than water, no food, no gum.

*If you’re bringing a cell phone to camp, keep it off or on silent during classes. If you’d rather not worry about it getting lost or stolen you can leave it with your family and can use mine if you need to contact anyone. We want to be as professional as possible. The camp directors and teachers host competitions throughout the year, we want to be sure that we leave a good impression.

*GIVE IT YOUR ALL. Camp directors and teachers are constantly watching for dancers who are working hard and trying their best. Parents have paid for you to have this experience and brought you all the way to camp- don’t waste it! The camp motto is FULL OUT and they mean it- in everything you do, do it full out and with everything you have. You will be a better dancer by putting your best foot forward and doing your very best. You only get out what you put in!

Let’s have fun!
-Natalie

Thank you so much for registering for our Senior Elite Team Summer Program! We are so excited to get started in a couple of weeks. Your first class will be on June 23rd from 4:00-6:00. I've attached a calendar graphic to keep you updated with our schedule.

*Summer session classes go through August 2nd, then we have a couple of amazing workshops planned (optional but encouraged) before our fall session starts on August 16th.

The summer session is 6 weeks long and $200- payment is due by July 1st and can be made via venmo @nvnatalie, or cash or check. Feel free to contact me if you'd like to make payments.

We will be moving to a larger studio at some point this summer (whenever the construction is finished) but for the time being, please plan on beginning classes in our current space, the Sol Speak Yoga building on 80 E. Center Street. The new space will be close by over on 100 N. and I'll keep you updated about the progress!

You'll just need a water bottle, comfortable dance clothes and your preferred dance/jazz shoes for class. I'll let you know when we're planning on doing hip-hop so that you can bring your tennis shoes.

St. George
We have an awesome dance camp trip planned for St. George from August 5-7th. This is a great opportunity to grow as a dancer and learn from several different teachers and choreographers. We will also be doing several activities as a team while we're there. I'll be getting a great group rate for us all to stay at the same hotel once I know how many people will be attending. This event is completely optional. The cost for the camp is $155- it includes lunch for the dancers and I will be staying with them all day so parents/guardians are free to play around St. George! The estimated camp schedule is: Day 1- 1:30-9:45 pm, Day 2- 8:30 am-5:00 pm, Day 3 8:30 am-2:00 pm and the performance from 2:00-3:15
Please RSVP if you're planning on attending and have your payment made to me by July 3rd.
Check out their website for more information at: https://www.danceamericausa.com/summer-slam-st-george/

Dance Fusion Workshop
Dance Fusion has rescheduled their June workshop to August 14th. It will be in Salt Lake from 9:30 am-7:30 pm. They have some incredible (and pretty famous) teachers/choreographers lined up and it would be a huge privilege to be able to take classes from them! The cost is $75 if you're registered before July 31. After that the fee goes up to $99. Again, RSVP if you're planning on attending this workshop.
More information and teacher bios can be found on their website: https://dancefevertour.com

We're going to have a great session!
Thank you so much for your support and please let me know if you have any questions.
